Terms of Service
Effective 2 October 2026
In short: Limn Land gives you a storefront at yourhandle.limn.land with checkout, supplier fulfilment, a platform-wide damage guarantee and buyer messages. It costs nothing and takes no cut of a sale. Buyers pay Limn, which transfers your share to your Stripe account at checkout and pays our print partner for production and delivery; you are the seller of the artwork, and Limn is the settlement merchant for the payment. It is not an open marketplace: the front page is a curated gallery, not a promise of traffic. There is no company behind it: one person runs it.
Who these terms are between
Limn Land is an independent service run by one person in the United States. There is no company behind it — no LLC, no corporation, no parent — and you are entitled to know that before you build something on it. These terms are the agreement between you and Limn Land, and Limn Land is who you are dealing with if you ever need to make a claim.
By opening a store, buying something through a store, or using any other part of the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the service. If something here is unclear, write to us and we will fix the wording rather than leave you guessing at it.
Who may use Limn Land
- You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live, to open a store or to buy anything. The service is not for children.
- Limn Land works with US buyers and US sellers only. Stores ship to US addresses; if you sell from outside the United States, this is not the platform for you yet.
- One account per person. Keep your password and your email address to yourself, and tell us straight away if you think somebody else has your account — everything done through it is your responsibility until you do.
- Give us accurate details, including the address you use for correspondence. Buyer delivery details are passed to the print supplier, so an address a buyer cannot receive at is a parcel that goes nowhere.
What Limn Land is, and what it is not
It is a storefront and the tools behind it. Your products live at yourhandle.limn.land with a cart and a checkout, the platform's damage and defect guarantee, an inbox where buyers reach you without needing an account, and artwork produced and shipped by our print partner. You can also connect a domain you already own, and the store is served there instead, with your Limn address redirecting to it.
It is not an open marketplace. There is no search across every seller's catalogue, no category tree to compete in, and no advertising of other people's stores on yours. Limn's front page is a curated daily gallery of twelve works; inclusion is editorial, never bought, and not guaranteed. It is not a general customer-acquisition service. Your audience is still the audience you already have, and the store is somewhere to send them. This is the most important distinction in this document — it is also why there is no monthly fee — and the front page shows the curated selection.
The artwork is yours; the payment is taken by Limn. When somebody buys from your store, the sale of the artwork is between you and them: you set the price, and the law that applies to the artwork applies to you as the artist. The guarantee is the platform's promise, not a per-store policy: every buyer gets 30 days from delivery for damage, defects, wrong items and material misdescription, and all other sales are final. The payment is different. Limn takes it from the buyer as settlement merchant and transfers your share to you, as the next paragraph explains.
How the money moves. Buyers pay Limn, not you directly. At checkout, Limn transfers your share to your connected Stripe account: the artwork price less what it costs our print partner to make and deliver the piece. Limn keeps the rest — the $5 buyer fee, the fulfilment cost and any sales tax — pays the print partner, and remits the tax. Refunds and lost disputes reverse the transfer to you. Your balance, payout schedule and bank details are managed by Stripe, and Stripe pays your balance out to your bank on the schedule you set there.
We do not give legal, tax or accounting advice. Nothing here or anywhere else on the site tells you what you owe, what to charge, or how to register your business.
What it costs
Sellers pay Limn Land nothing. No monthly fee, no percentage of a sale, no listing fee, no per-order fee, no paid tier. There is nothing to upgrade to and no feature held back behind a plan.
- Card processing. Stripe charges its standard rate on every payment. Limn pays it from the amount it retains, so it is not deducted from your share. That rate is 2.9% + 30¢ for a domestic card at the time of writing, and Stripe's published rates are what govern it.
- Delivery. Included in the artwork price. Printing, framing and shipping are paid to our production supplier out of the amount Limn retains; there is no separate delivery charge and no label for you to buy.
- Sales tax is collected by Limn. Because Limn takes the payment as settlement merchant, it calculates, collects and remits sales tax where it is registered. Sales tax never forms part of your share. Income tax and anything else you report on your earnings are your responsibility; we do not file anything for you.
How Limn Land keeps running
Honestly: on almost nothing. Limn Land currently earns nothing from the people who use it. The one revenue path it is built for costs sellers nothing — at a high enough payments volume Stripe pays a platform a share of the processing fee it already charges, out of Stripe's own fee and never on top of it. If Limn Land ever introduces a charge that a seller pays, it will be announced before it takes effect and written into these terms first, and nothing you have already sold will be charged for retroactively. Anything else would be a change to this agreement that you never agreed to.
Your relationship with Stripe is your own: the Stripe Connected Account Agreement and Stripe's services agreement govern your account, your payouts, and how disputes are handled at the payment level.
Selling here
What you sell
Limn Land is built for original artwork sold as framed prints and shipped to US addresses. Each listing is one artwork in one complete format; production and delivery are handled by our print partner. Digital products and services are not something this store can sell.
You must have the right to sell what you list, and to use every photograph and word you upload. You keep ownership of all of it. You give us permission to store it, resize it, display it on your store, and pass it to the services that make that work — images to our storage provider, delivery details to our print supplier. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies that sit in backups until those rotate.
You may not use a Limn Land store to sell:
- anything illegal, stolen, counterfeit, or recalled;
- weapons, ammunition, explosives, or parts of them;
- drugs, drug paraphernalia, prescription items, or anything sold as a medicine or a health cure;
- alcohol, tobacco, vaping products, or cannabis;
- adult content, adult services, or anything sexual involving minors;
- live animals, or animal parts whose sale is restricted;
- hazardous, flammable or otherwise restricted materials, or anything a carrier will not legally carry;
- financial instruments, identity documents, or fake versions of either;
- anything that breaks another person's rights — including their copyright, trademark or privacy — or that our payment provider requires us to exclude.
This list is not exhaustive, and it is not a verdict on what is legal anywhere: it is what this platform will and will not carry. If you are unsure whether something belongs here, ask before you list it.
What you owe your buyers
Production and delivery are handled by our print supplier, so keep the artwork, its format and the delivery details accurate, and answer the people who message you. Every store carries the same 30-day damage and defect guarantee, which Limn administers and decides — you do not offer a separate returns policy and you cannot opt out of it. Consumer-protection law still gives your buyer rights you cannot contract away. The tools to do all of it are in the dashboard: order status and the inbox; claims are handled by Limn.
Buying your own stock, or arranging purchases, to inflate order counts or recommendation counts is not allowed. Neither is using the buyer inbox to send marketing to people who did not ask for it, scraping the site, or reselling access to the platform itself.
Handles
Your handle — yourhandle.limn.land — is the address of your store, not property. It cannot be sold, transferred or reserved for resale. We will not take one away for being quiet: a store that has not sold anything this month keeps its name. If you connect a domain you own, the handle stays yours and redirects to it. We will reclaim a handle that infringes somebody else's rights, that is being used to impersonate someone, that breaks these terms, or that belongs to an account you have deleted.
Buying through a store here
If you are the buyer, this section is the one that applies to you. The artwork is the seller's and they set the price. Limn takes your payment as settlement merchant, transfers the seller's share, and pays our print partner to make and ship the piece.
- Your card details go to Stripe and never to us or to the seller. We do not store card numbers and we never see them.
- Your name, email address, shipping address and phone number, if you give one, go to the seller and to our print partner, which needs them to make and ship your order. The Privacy Policy covers the detail.
- We email you the receipt and the tracking details on the seller's behalf, and you can message the seller from the store without creating an account.
- If something is wrong with an order, open the order conversation and report it. Within 30 days of delivery, a piece that arrived damaged, defective, wrong or materially different from its listing is replaced or refunded by Limn. Change of mind is not covered: all other sales are final. Refunds are issued by Limn and may reverse the seller's share of the transfer.
- You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live, to buy.
Ending your account, and us ending it
You can leave whenever you want. Delete your account from the dashboard in Settings. You cannot delete an account with orders still open — the buyer has paid and the piece has not moved — so let those orders finish or refund them first. Deleting your account deletes your storefront, your products, your uploaded images, your order records and your conversations, and closes the Stripe account created for you. Download anything you need for your own income records from Stripe before you go; Limn keeps the payment records it is required to keep, and Stripe keeps its own under its own policy.
We can suspend or remove a store that breaks these terms, that is being used to defraud buyers, or where the law requires it. Except where telling you first would mean letting the harm continue — fraud, illegal goods, a legal order — we will tell you what the problem is and give you the chance to fix it. If we suspend a store with orders in flight, those orders still exist and you must let them finish or refund them.
If Limn Land itself ever stops, we will give you as much notice as we can, put it somewhere you will see it, and help you get your products and images out before the doors close.
What we promise, and what we do not
We will keep the service running, keep it secure, tell you when something changes that affects your store, and not quietly start charging for something that was free. That is a promise of effort and of honesty, and it is the whole of it.
There is no uptime guarantee. The service is provided as it is and as it can be, without warranties of any kind, and it will sometimes be broken, slow, or briefly offline while it is being fixed. Some parts can change or disappear while the platform is young, and a feature you rely on may be retired as the product narrows.
Things outside our control are outside our control. Stripe deciding an account cannot take payments, a card being declined, a carrier losing a parcel, a chargeback decided by a bank, an email not arriving, a hosting provider having an outage — none of that is something we can promise against, and we are not liable for it.
The limit of our liability. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Beyond that, we are not liable for lost profits, lost sales, lost data, or indirect or consequential losses — and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you have paid Limn Land in the twelve months before the claim. Since sellers pay us nothing, in practice that cap is $100. We would rather state that plainly than bury it: this is a free service, run by one person, and the honest position is that you are trusting it with your storefront rather than with a fortune.
Your side of that. You are responsible for what you sell and for the claims that come out of it — a product that injures somebody, a listing that copies somebody's work, a tax return you did not file. If a claim is made against us because of your store, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of it. We will tell you if that happens.
Copyright and takedowns
If your photographs, words or designs have been copied into somebody else's store, write to us with the store's address, what is yours, and how we can check that it is yours. We act on copyright notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. §512) and we will remove material that a valid notice identifies. If you typed out the other end of that — a store of yours had content removed — reply to the notice and we will look again, and restore it if the removal was wrong.
Changes to these terms
These terms will change; the date at the top is the version that applies. When a change materially affects you we will tell you before it takes effect, by email or in the dashboard, and you can delete your account if you do not agree with it. Continuing to use Limn Land after the effective date is acceptance of the version that is published on that date.
Governing law and where a dispute goes
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Limn Land is operated, without regard to that state's conflict of laws rules.
There is no arbitration clause here and no class-action waiver: if we cannot sort something out by talking, either of us can bring a claim in the courts that would otherwise have jurisdiction over it, and a small claim can go to a small-claims court.
Write to us first, though. Eight lines in an email have resolved everything this platform has had to resolve so far, and it is quicker for both of us than the alternative.
